PED Talk: An Osteopathic Approach to Foot & Lower Limb Injuries; An Ultra-Marathon Runners Perspective
with Melissa Jeffreys, M.OMSc.
Wednesday, February 22, 2023
11:00 am to 12:00 pm EST
Join us for the first PD event of the year!
Melissa Jeffreys, M.OMSc is an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner who has been in private practice for over 6 years. Her interest in the human body began in high school, taking kinesiology and biology, along with being heavily involved in competitive sports. Her own experiences being in and out of clinics with her own injuries ultimately led her to studying Kinesiology and Psychology at Wilfrid Laurier University, and later completing her Masters at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy (CAO).
During this presentation, Melissa will take you through an Osteopath’s perspective on lower limb injuries, how they look at the body and assess the patient’s experience, to best guide them in healing and moving forward proactively. We will discuss considerations in the assessment, broadening our perspective, & maintaining a holistic view of the patient and their concerns. Melissa will then be taking you through her experience in the ultra marathon world, going from once believing she would never be able to run long distance to completing her first 100k trail ultra last September.
Attendance at this session will be worth 1 CEP with The College of Pedorthics of Canada.
